Home textiles standing stable
15 January 2010

The sector for home textiles in Sweden is expanding and there has been a great interest in home styling for several years now. The spending on home furnishing articles has increased for ten years in a row, except for a small dip in 2008. In 2008 the turnover for Swedish shops trading with home textiles was 5163 million SEK, according to Statistics Sweden.

As a consequence of the latest financial crisis consumers of home decoration products in Western markets have shifted their purchase behaviour towards products they find useful. That might be the explanation of the relatively small decline in the home textiles sector compared to the total home decoration sector. People do still need bed linen, kitchen linen etc.

Bed linen, toilet and kitchen linen of terry cloths and cotton curtains are the most imported products within the home textiles sector. If you are interested in exporting your products to the Swedish market you can get more information in the recently published market report on Home Textiles:
